Camping vacation on the Weser since 1972

The Rühler Schweiz campsite on the banks of the Weser celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022 and now shines in new splendor in 2025 due to a change of operator.

For many decades, the campsite has been a popular place of relaxation for nature lovers on vacation or short breaks, for cyclists, anglers, weekend and permanent campers and offers everything
that a camper’s heart desires. In the season from cherry blossom to apple harvest, the campsite team warmly welcomes guests young and old, young and young at heart,
including four-legged friends.

The environmentally conscious campsite is in a wonderful scenic location, a beautiful spot in the middle of the Weserbergland (approx. 1 km outside of Rühle, in the direction of Bodenwerder) – to the left is the Weser, a true paradise for anglers and water sports enthusiasts, to the right is the Vogler low mountain range with its mixed forests and long mountain ridges. Cyclists will also get their money’s worth, as the popular Weser cycle path runs right past the campsite.

A brief history of the square

1972

Opening of the “Rühler Schweiz” campsite, which was lovingly built by Wilhelm and Gisela Brader. The Brader family is a long-established family in Rühle, whose ancestors were farmers and innkeepers. At that time, the couple recognized the tourism potential of their beautiful region. In addition to the campsite, they ran the original village inn “Zum weißen Ross” (in the center of the village of Rühle), first as a guesthouse and later as a hotel.

1980

The site was continuously developed and expanded, and new facilities and leisure options (such as the swimming pool) were put into operation.

2004

With the completion of the new, handicapped-accessible wash house, the new permanent camping area in the northern part of the site was opened in 2004.

2025

The family atmosphere is still the trademark of the site today. After a successful handover of the baton, this special ambience is being continued by the new operators, who are now not only giving the site a new shine by renovating some areas, but also giving it a new “face” and refreshing liveliness in everyday camper life with creative ideas. The changes are worthwhile and will underline the charm of the site. Look forward to it!
