If you still need fishing accessories or equipment, you will find several suitable specialist stores with fishing equipment in nearby Bodenwerder. And the local angling club offers a wealth of information and activities for anglers on its website.

The allure of river fishing

Those who take on the challenges and attractive peculiarities of river fishing will be rewarded. River fishing is not only technically more demanding, but is also fascinating due to the variety of fish species and their remarkable characteristics. Fish that live in the current often develop a more robust stature than their relatives from lakes.

Fish fauna of the Weser

Numerous fish species can be fished effectively in the Weser. Some of the stocks are so abundant that there are still professional fishermen along the river. Their most important source of income is the eel, which is native to the Weser in large numbers. Barbel, perch, zander and trout can also be caught effectively. Many sections of the river also offer ideal conditions for carp. Heavy specimens of up to 25 pounds are not uncommon in the groyne fields. The same applies to large pike. These can be caught particularly well in the Rühler Buhnen, for example, especially at the end of the year between October and December.
